I have had both suspend-to-ram and suspend-to-disk working fine with
kernel 2.6.30 using BIOS F.04.
With your suggestion, I have upgraded to BIOS F.23 and, using kernel
2.6.31-3 (i.e. rc3) neither of them function.
Actually what happens is the devicekit-power/devicekit-power-daemon
On the HP HDX16, suspend to ram doesn't work under Linux with a BIOS
older than F.23. Upgrading the BIOS to F.23 fixes it, without any other
changes. At least, this works for me on Mandriva 2009.1.

I had to do this (sync; echo 1 > /sys/power/pm_trace; pm-suspend) twice.
The first time I got:
Magic number: 0:81:349
The second time I got:

@Anand -- as both pm-suspend and pm-hibernate always fail it is worth
debugging one. You could try the proceedure detailed on the wiki page
below and see what that turns up:

Tried pm-suspend; suspends okay but does not resume at all.
Tried pm-hibernate; hibernates with an the following output:
btusb_intr_complete: hci0 urb 80136c27600 failed to resubmit (1)
pm_op(): usb_dev_that+0x0/0x10 returns -19
pm: device 5-2 failed to that: error -19
Upon resume,

Did you recently have a suspend failures. Did the machine break while
going to sleep, or while coming back from sleep? Is this reproducible
say over 10 cycles. Has suspend ever worked in the past, if so which
kernel release (cat /proc/version_signature)? Please include any
