The third patch does improve things on Gigabyte GA-EG45M-DS2H mobo (G45), I can suspend/resume and VT switch without getting into that annoying 1sec freeze mode. I have not yet tried running xorg for a _long_ time to see if that still triggers the bug. glxgears now also reports around 60 FPS as

Derek, you're right, the patches aren't enough. It's harder to trigger though.. Can you try the patch from this post on top of the two earlier commits? I've tried it before and it worked for me (during the brief testing period), and upstream would like to know if it helps in this case:
