Did running it in splitscreen mode do something?
Yep, sounds like a configuration problem. Look in your
~/.config/monitors.xml and your /etc/X11/xorg.conf to be sure. But you
can see by maximum 2384 x 768 in your xrandr output that you set up
your maximum screen height to 768, so no wonder

I have done this to no avial.
I have reinstalled 8.10 and for the life of me, I can't get 1680 1050 to work
at all now.
The card is not recognizing the 22 monitor like it used to.
It wouldn't be so bad if it had not worked before.
Any other suggestions?
I also tried this with 9.04. This didn't
What do I need to do in order to get it to recognize the 1680x1050
monitor?
I know this card will do it. It used to work.
j...@john-laptop:~$ xrandr -q
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1024 x 768, maximum 2384 x 768
VGA connected 1360x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x
Another update.
I opened the lid and tried to see if I could get it to go 1680x1050.
It did not work...
But here is the kicker...I shut down, close the lid restart.
Now I get this...
j...@john-laptop:~$ xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1024 x 768, maximum 1680 x 1050
VGA connected
Looks like the problem is that your graphics chip now has a maximum 1360
x 1360. Try setting the virtual option in your xorg.conf. E.g.:
Section Screen
Identifier Default Screen
Monitor Configured Monitor
Device Configured Video Device
xserver-xorg-video-intel version: 2:2.5.1-1ubuntu5~intrepid
John, we prefer to have the files uploaded as separate files, since
that makes it easier to link to files and read them from computers
with other operating systems like Windows. I know the web interface is

Thanks!
The 1680x1050 no longer worked after I installed Mplayer. So I'm sure something
in there must have broken it. I noticed it needed alot of libraries. Is there
some kind of install log I can send you to?

You
Thank you for reporting this bug and welcome as a bug reporter. For all bugs
that are related to xorg, we require the following information, which I would

One more thing: I didn't see anything about using the backported drivers
in bug 278259. Exactly what are you referring to?

Thanks for answering so quickly. I am happy to finally help contribute
something!
I misquoted about the backport. All I did was follow the instructions as
laid out in BUG 278259. I installed the intel-gfx-testing package as
suggested.
I have included the debug info you requested in the included
