@Silviu - You misunderstand. That PPA has no packages for jaunty. At
all. I don't see how it could of helped you.
NB: I still have this issue.

I can understand how that PPA would help as it doesn't seem to have any jaunty
packages in it.

I gave that answer in case anyone was really annoyed about the middle click
behaviour.
I know that is not a real fix of the problem, it's just a work-around until the
bug is fixed.

I added this[1] repository for the intel graphics driver and after an
update the left click stopped causing problems.

I can confirm this bug with a Thinkpad T60, the left click button will
sporadically work like a middle click button.
