Dear Leann,
I am a new Linux user, so I don't know a lot of technical details.
When I boot the computer I have a choice to boot from the following:
- Ubuntub 8.10, kernel 2.6.27-9-generic
- Ubuntub 8.10, kernel 2.6.27-9-generic (recovery mode)
- Ubuntub 8.10, kernel 2.6.27-7-generic
- Ubuntub

Indeed my computer was automatically booting from 2.6.27-9-generic (I
specifically paid attention this time :)).
Now I tried to boot from 2.6.27-9-generic - there is still the same
problem.
Please let me know if you have an idea of what the problem might be.

Hi 123marra,
Can you comment which specific version of the kernel you are currently
using - `cat /proc/version_signature` . If you boot to the previously
installed kernel, does the issue remain? If the issue remains, it's
likely not a regression introduced by the kernel (assuming it was
