The problem doesn't depend on the theme, icon or status. My aMSN is up to date (as the rest of the system, includin Compiz core). It also doesn't depend on the step, the problem concerns the concflict between Compiz (or Metacity) and aMSN, the rest of the tray icons (Screenlets, bluetooth, Volum

The problem occurs with all amsn icons (logging in, online, offline, etc.). I have amsn 0.97.2~debian-2ubuntu2 (up to date). I too noticed that the problem appears using compiz. I see like if the icon doesn't redraw background, so I see the foreground, but in the background I see "previous" icons,

The problem occurs when I enable the desktop effects (Compiz or Metacity), if I disable them the problem disappear and the tray icon is shown correctly. The problem does non depend on the theme used. My graphic card is an Intel 965gse integrated in my EEEPC 901 running Ubuntu 9.04 beta. -- [Jaun

It seems that it has something to do with compiz and visual effects. I have a second computer that also runs ubuntu jaunty and amsn. The main difference is that the second computer has fglrx instead of radeon and doesn't have visual effects activated. I saw that the icon seems fine on that computer
