Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed

The problem doesn't depend on the theme, icon or status. My aMSN is up to date
(as the rest of the system, includin Compiz core).
It also doesn't depend on the step, the problem concerns the concflict between
Compiz (or Metacity) and aMSN, the rest of the tray icons (Screenlets,
bluetooth, Volum
The problem occurs with all amsn icons (logging in, online, offline,
etc.). I have amsn 0.97.2~debian-2ubuntu2 (up to date).
I too noticed that the problem appears using compiz. I see like if the
icon doesn't redraw background, so I see the foreground, but in the
background I see "previous" icons,
Does the problem only occur with that particular amsn icon, or with
others as well? What does that icon represent, do you have some steps on

Thanks for your comment. Is the problem reproducible every time? Does it
occur when using Metacity instead of Compiz? Does it occur when using
the default Human theme? What graphics driver are you using? Thanks in
advance.

It seems that it has something to do with compiz and visual effects. I
have a second computer that also runs ubuntu jaunty and amsn. The main
difference is that the second computer has fglrx instead of radeon and
doesn't have visual effects activated. I saw that the icon seems fine on
that computer
I'm using the radeon driver (1:6.10.0-1ubuntu1) and yes, every session,
but tt isn't always the same problem. Right now I don't have the black
background, but the icon still have "multiple layers" with different
status icons. I always have liferea running in the notification area and

Thanks for your report. The icon seems to be fine for me. What graphics
