I'm on Intrepid with kernel 2.6.27-11-generic.

I get the following from the socket-trace.stp example:

$ sudo stap /usr/share/doc/systemtap/examples/socket-trace.stp 
semantic error: no match while resolving probe point 
kernel.function("*...@net/socket.c").call
semantic error: no match while resolving probe point 
kernel.function("*...@net/socket.c").return
semantic error: no probes found
Pass 2: analysis failed.  Try again with more '-v' (verbose) options.
