thank you for your bug report, what ubuntu version do you use? could you
stop the running gnome-settings-daemon and run gnome-settings-daemon
--debug --no-daemon on the command line, do fn-f7 and add the log to the
bug?

My Vaio requires me to reboot in order to make the projector show up.
Depending on which resolution I set the video to feed the projector, you
may have to log out and back in. Just get to your presentation a minute
early. Be aware of another bug, which will permanently disable desktop
effects
