Yes, I have tested that version. However, I do not believe this bug is
related to the nvidia graphics drivers. I was just able to re-create it
on another system without an nvidia graphics card.

Thanks for your reply. Have you tested also the official package nvidia-

the file mentioned above)?

I have been using the 180.37 drivers since very shortly after their
release. I even packaged them in my PPA. Now, I am using the 185.13
beta drivers released yesterday. The problem still occurs with both,
because it is not related to the Nvidia drivers.

Please try to upgrade to 180.37 version of the drivers. According to 3v1, the
packages still require you to remove /usr/lib/libGL.so first.
Report here if the problem is fixed or not.

Hi Michael,
did you try to look at the contents of ~/.xsession-errors from text
console? It often helps a lot as it might contain error messages. And it
makes sense to look at dmesg output, to see whether audit prevents some
operations.

This bug is not a duplicate. I discovered it long before the Nvidia
180.35 drivers were released, and it still occurs now, even with 180.37.

I have found a thread discussing Nvidia driver problems,
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdebase/+bug/335879
After upgrading to 180.37 driver (using URLs provided in the thread
mentioned above) I don't see the problem anymore - logout/shutdown works
perfectly. It seems that Nvidia driv
Something similar here. Yesterday I have upgraded from Intrepid to
Jaunty (dist-upgrade) and now when I use the logout button, there is no
action. More than that, kwin stops responding to mouse events - I can
switch between applications/dekstops using keyboard, and mouse works in

Same here... Using 9.04 alpha5. For me never reboots, or shutdown from
KDE4.2. Which i am pretty sure is not a problem from KDE4.2, since in
8.10 works perfectly.
