This was fixed several years ago by avoiding the use of the
broken/depreciated libparted ext2 code.

I tried the installation in text mode. It worked.
The partition selection stopped to confirm formating the swap.
There was a message saying the partitions contained too much information but it
didn't prevent the installation.
