Sergey,
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Ubuntu 8.10 will be end of life at the end of this month, therefore we
are closing this bug report. Feel free to reopen this issue or report a new bug
if you still can reproduce with a supported release,
I have not upgraded my systems to 9.10 yet, but I have experienced similar
printing issues with 9.04.
When I have time, I will give it a try with 9.10.
Thank you.

The last time I successfully printed was 3/12/2009. I remember seeing
some updates for cups which I applied. Now jobs sent to the printer
actually go to the printer but never print. Deleting the jobs is

I have the same problem, but I have found out that if you change the
filename to what you need i.e test.pdf or test.ps and not leave it as
.ps or .pdf the documents print OK.

Can everyone of you do the following:
cancel -a

Then print a job, and as soon a the job disappears from the queue or

sudo cp /var/log/cups/error_log ~

Just dropping by to say that my system stopped printing *anything* a couple of
weeks ago.
Even deleting/re-creating the printer, or trying to print directly simple text
from the command-line with "lp", doesn't work. The printer doesn't even receive
any data.

the HPLIP drivers do allow for full photo color support, by default this

I can confirm a shameful regression in printing in Jaunty.
I hope this will get addressed.
My Brother HL-1430 usually prints a job or two, then refuses printing anymore
until I don't reboot.
I've tried everything: disconnecting the printer, restarting cups... only a
reboot lets me print a coupl
