As Nerd_bloke notes, this is definitely a regression from Intrepid. If you turn on Compiz via the appearance menu, you'll have no way to override this behaviour since Ubuntu doesn't ship with ccsm by default. On small screens (well, in fact just about any screen smaller than 1280x1024), this makes
