Public bug reported:
Sound updates have for some time caused the master controller in the
mixer to be muted. I think this is a script problem, as sound is just
fine until the next sound update strikes. Proper updates will update the
sound parameter files not replace them. If they must be replaced then do
not mute the sound. The mixer says it is a VIA 8251
