Ubuntu better. However, I am closing it because the bug has been fixed
in the latest development version of Ubuntu - Precise Pangolin.
If you need a fix for the bug in previous versions of Ubuntu, please
follow the instructions
I'd like to be able to bootstrap more recent and unstable archives from
a non-backported hardy too. Also, it would be cool to have the scripts
for the upstream debian distributions work too, but maybe that's a bit
more complex to fix due to mirror url differences.

-backports aren't enabled by default. I don't have them, for example
and I don't want them. This is a trivial thing to backport. Hardy
still has a long time of support before it, I think this should be
SRU'd. Given time, I'll try and help the effort.
