I see the same thing as originally reported. I'm running Kubuntu 8.10 with KDE 3.5 (yes, the older KDE), 64-bit, nVidia proprietary driver 177.82, Firefox 3.0.6. Doing anything inside the Add-Ons window is very slow and causes the Xorg CPU usage as viewed by top to burst higher. This happens for me

I installed and fired up Compiz and there is no extraordinary CPU usage in the Addons page of Firefox so it is a Matchbox specific issue. I've added the matchbox-window-manager project to reflect this new finding. Unsure if firefox should be removed as I don't think firefox itself is causing the i
