Official support for Ubuntu 8.04 "Hardy Heron" has ended. If this issue
still occurs on Ubuntu 21.04 please run ubuntu-bug to file a new bug
report so that we can get a fresh set of log files and system info.

Once I switched from Xinerama to "Big Desktop", these tools began to
work (as did other GL applications). I'm not sure if that makes this an
invalid or a wont-fix ticket.
