Public bug reported: Running Intrepid on a Dell Dimension 8400.
Just like the title, my system has been locking up completely randomly but frequently. It has already happened about five times tonight. When it freezes, my mouse is still responsive, but nothing else. Ctrl-Alt- Backspace does not work. It requires a hard reset. It began happening after I installed Kubuntu. I thought that KDE might be the reason, so I switched back to GNOME. But it keeps happening here, too. Every time the error occurs, kern.log logs this: Uhhuh. NMI received for unknown reason [xx] on CPU0. You have some hardware problem, likely on the PCI bus. Dazed and confused, but trying to continue I put [xx] there because I have different codes--b1 most recently, but last time, it was a1, and a0 before that. Can anyone help? This is a huge problem, especially because my laptop's BIOS decided to go berserk just two days ago. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- System freezes randomly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/331388 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
