Once again, this is not a Me TV issue, you need to raise this with xine-
ui. It's the source of the issue. When you run xine it will do the
same thing.

Adding that line did indeed fix the problem, thanks. This should be the
default setting in me-tv, reopening.
This is an issue that occurs in me-tv 0.7.14-1, but not 0.5.33-3, so is
a regression in me-tv functionality. Having a mute button that doesn't
actually mute the program isn't very useful. T
This is an issue with a xine's default audio settings, not Me TV. Add
this line to ~/.me-tv/xine.config which should fix the issue, it
overrides the xine's default setting.
