I'm using Xubuntu, so I believe that xdg-open is using exo-open. I can
reproduce this behavior with both exo-open and gnome-open though. kde-
open seems to work fine.

Thank you for your bug report. This works fine for me though. What
desktop environment do you use? This matters because xdg-open is
basically just a wrapper for some other utility, depending on the
desktop environment you're running.
