I am using an up-to-date Jaunty system on an IBM ThinkPad X60s.
When I connect an external monitor via VGA after I logged into GNOME, the
monitor is not recognized.
When I connect an external monitor via VGA before I boot, the monitor is
recognized.
The former used to work fine with Intrepid and earlier Ubuntu releases.
