Actually, my problem seems to have been caused by a corrupted SD card left in
the reader.
This was also contributing a full 3 minutes to my bootup time while waiting for
a timeout.

I would like to report a similar frustration on my EeePC 701 2G.
Suspend seems to work properly, but resume does not. I am presented with
just a black screen.
I tried rebooting and suspending again to see if like IanW I was able to
resume and to my surprise it showed a pink cursor followed by scr
