Hi Hobbsee-
Could you try editing /usr/share/screen-profiles/profiles/ubuntu-black
and changing "~" to "$HOME", and see if that works?
If so, this is a very easy fix...

/screen-profiles/profiles/ubuntu-black), there is the line:
source ~/.screenrc
However, the ~ either a) never gets evaluated, or b) gets evaluated
incorrect
