I think I rejoiced too soon... the 2.6.28 kernel helped for my thinkpad, however, i also have a 3 year old asus with broadcom chip (that i dont use that often, so i didnt find out sooner), which apparently suffers from the same issue. On this machine however, a 2.6.28 kernel does not improve the
