what is dmi
my computer is a compaq, evo n1020v, it's a bit old but i had not this problem
before switching to jaunty. Is related to the radeon driver?

Looks like different hardware to mine, so I doubt I'll be able to help
myself.
I suspect to help track this down, you may need to provide make / model
of the laptop. Perhaps one of the Ubuntu develoeprs will have access to
a similar machine to test.
The output of "sudo dmidecode" may also provide
I'm really sorry, i will do it next time. But please, would you consider
printing this advice in a visible place on launchpad or in the ubuntu
recommendation list?

the latest 2.6.3 intel driver, (and after verifying the Ubuntu kernel is
using all the appropriate DRI kernel patches).
