The problem is that I can't post any log file with the error; during a failed boot no information is logged in Xorg.0.log: I followed this procedure: removed xserver-xorg-video-radeon rebooted it boots normally sudo rm /var/log/Xorg.0.log* install xserver-xorg-video-radeon reboot freeze push reset
