Restarting user-setup after pressing AltGr+e (and having it back up to
the main menu) and attaching strace to debconf fails to reproduce the
problem. I haven't yet determined whether this is due to attaching
strace or due to the second run.
AltGr+e in the Polish keymap is ę which is 0xc4 0x99 in U
This doesn't reproduce simply with whiptail from a normal system, so
something odd is going on.

Reproduced, thanks. Argh. I think this is some hatred somewhere down at
the newt/slang2 kind of level, but am still investigating.
