SYMPTOMS: Login music is crackly how ever once the desktop is up and
running the sound issues are no longer present.
CAUSE: Maybe an issue with pulseaudio/alsa fighting over who has rights
to play it
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
1/ Login to an up-to-date install
2/ Listen to how awful the login sound is
3/ Play a piece of music after hear how fine it sounds in comparison
