Maybe the & is misplaced there? If & normally means that the started process is backgrounded, than we would want to write something like xhost +si:localuser:`id -un` & > /dev/null or xhost +si:localuser:`id -un` > /dev/null & or am I mistaken? I can't remember whether in bash or whatever >& mea
