Hello, I'm using Karmic 9.10. I've installed every available updates. The
problem described here is still occuring:
e...@computer:/media/$ gvfs-rm folder
works only if the directory is empty.
if it contains a folder or a file the error is 'no such file or directory'
A fix would be nice

I'll try to provide the "missing information" that Sebiastian Bacher
needs :-) I hope this helps to re-open and solve this bug.
Contrary to Richard Thomas, I have my SMB-Shares mounted via GVFSD, not
in /etc/fstab.
The following happens with my gvfs-mounted SMB-shares:
* I can delete files

as Alexander Schäfer notes in the previous message, first BUG, is
probably exactly what's wrong. I don't see why 'importance' is set to
low, as it is a major bug imho (i end up using thunar instead of
Nautilus in Karmic) and it's probably easy to fix. I believe it also

First BUG (directory not cleared recursively):
The problem here is that gvfs-rm is NOT working recursively.. rm-fr does work
recursively! Therefore on a mounted gvfs smb share, a non-empty directories can
be deleted with rm -fr, while gvfs-rm can't successfully remove a non-emtpy
directory.

on jaunty? could you run /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd -r, try to delete the
directory and copy the log there?
