Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gparted

What Happened:
I formatted an external hard drive using gparted. After shutting down and then
restarting the laptop, rEFIt couldn't find Ubuntu. It just showed a Legacy OS
option which loaded to a screen that said "Missing Operating System".
It turns out that gparted made grub go AWOL. I found this post
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=871410&highlight=restore+grub which
linked to this post http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=121355&postcount=5
which had nearly the right resolution (but I had to change find
/boot/grub/stage1 to find /grub/stage1).

What Should Happen:
I formatted an external hard drive using gparted. After shutting down and then
restarting the laptop, everything works as normal. Grub does not go AWOL.

Machine: Mac Book Pro 3.1 with rEFIt.
