being fixed with an update. For future reference you can manage the

I typed
sudo aptitude install python-dev
into terminal and now the printer works after using the hp self-extracting
installer. I have to say that the issue is solved.

Just tried the self extracting installer from the HP linux printer site.
Get error "python-devel not found". I have attached a screenshot. I
assume the missing dependency is why the printer says it "may not be
connected". The system is updated with the latest updates.
