be applied thru udev.

Tomas, that is what I thought about. But Scott tells, that permissions
should be set via hal now.
P.S. this have no use for Intrepid -- it doesn't have force feedback
support in kernel

Comment/workaround for Intrepid (I don't know if this will be obsolete
in Jaunty): I added the following two lines to
/etc/udev/rules.d/40-permission.rules:
ATTRS{modalias}==input:*-*a[068],*|input:*-*a*,[68],*m*,
ATTRS{modalias}!=input:*-*k*14A,*r*, ENV{ID_CLASS}=joystick
KERNEL==event*,
User permission to access devices is applied using ACLs by HAL
