Ok, yeah. That's two system tray widgets. To solve this you can remove this
block from plasma-appletsrc:
[Containments][38][Applets][41]
geometry=6,0,1674,36
immutability=1
plugin=systemtray
zvalue=0
I don't know if Harald wanted to close it from here on or not, though.

Howdy onyxrev,
I think that you actually have 2 notification receiving widgets (as a
matter of fact they are kind of widgets and if you are uber lucky you
can detach them from systray). I certainly hope this will change in 4.3,
but for now that would be my guess of failure here.

I know there are a few bugs that sound similar, but they seemed to
indicate duplicate notifications in the same plasma 'thread', whereas
this appears disembodied from the applets.

I just noticed that there are two notification icons in the system tray
applet, one corresponding to the disembodied thread and the other to the
expected one. So maybe something's running twice?
