Hi, I've got the same problem with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.
It happens mainly when I start Update Manager, and even if the program start
himself.

I can verify this happens with 9.10 on an acer aspire 5100. Same
description as jon.grx, seems like only a few widgets get focus and
after one window is opened all mouse clicks stop working.

I get the same output when I push the Check button in the update-manager in
Ubuntu 9.10. I've to use Synaptic to update my system, no automatic updates.
I think one package update is messing up my mouse configuration (may be X.org
or HAL or whatever) and lefts my system unusable. Some areas of
