This is maybe related to the proprietary nvidia graphics drivers. Bug
#370100 has the same ugly black bar

only appear when taking a screenshot.

2. Have you made any theme changes?
3. Is this still happening after all updates are installed?
4. I can not reproduce this on my working jaunty and on a fresh install jaunty.
