Hi,
When installing Ubuntu in Japanese, the default PDF viewer, ie. Evince, can't 
read some files.
xpdf and kpdf could read it correctly.. but evince could not. After a while 
looking around, i understood that i need to install the poppler-data package. I 
had to wander in some cryptic webforum for that, which i could do only becase 
i'm an experienced user.
This is critical that some new user can read PDF on his Ubuntu computer. 
Therefore, Ubuntu should either makes poppler-data installing default for CJK 
user, or should switch Evince to xpdf, kpdf or even Adobe Reader for them.
A minimal, unstatisfying solution should be to at least talk about 
"poppler-data" in the "font" tab of Evince document viewer..
