I'm now using Gnome's nm-applet and everything is working fine. You
might want to give it a try if you don't want to leave network-manager,
it integrates quite nicely into KDE4 as well.

I'm using kvpnc for VPN right now, but it would be nice to have it
working in network-manager. Is it only the plasma widget that's

Wicd in synaptic solved all my networking problems, you might give it a
try. I like the look and simplicity of it much better than that of
Network Manager also.

There is a work around that I have figured out, you may do either one of
two things. If you have the KDE Wallet Subsystem turned on, it will save
your settings, or if you set the values manually through the
configuration file located
/{home}/.kde/share/apps/networkmanagement/connections/somecrazyst
Unfortunately it still does not work with VPN connections.

After installing plasma-widget-network-manager svn961724 from

Obviously this was not considered important enough to fix before the
final release. Network Manager is absolutely useless in 9.04.

Given the fact that the RC is available and 9.04 will probably announced
in less then a week: this bug should be fixed before release. It renders
the network manager useless.

I'm seeing something slightly different, but probably related. Right
clicking the widget and selecting Manage Connections... it has the
information for the two wifi connections I use, the password has been
saved, and clicking Show password I can see it is correct, but the Key
Type is Passphrase ins

Same here, it's pretty anoying ! please fix asap! (Think it has
something to do with kwalletmanager. when i open the wallet fast it
works, but if i do not, NM seems to forget everything . . .)

Same thing here.
Here's what syslog says when I try to add a vpnc connection:
Mar 31 18:19:18 kubuntu NetworkManager:

I've also attached the partially saved connection file.
