Ok, I've figured out what is the problem.
This happens only when using Twin-View
from nVidia's graphics driver.

I think I understood what is happening:
As I have two monitors, gksu is fading both of them. So there is a
superposition of two semitransparent rectangles, one for the big screen and one
for the small. The darker area is due to this superposition.
Notes:
I'm using the NVIDEA card.

I think this maybe related to the dual monitor I'm using. It seems the
region which is faded has the same resolution of the laptop screen. I
will do some more tests and report them when I'm done.
