Same thing for me, this tips solve my problem, I was waiting since 4
month.From time to time, nicotine freeze my X-Server, the only things to
do is to CTRL+F1, open a console session and killall nicotine.

I'm experiencing exactly the same problem here with a Mono application.
The error in my application appears when I try to change the Tooltip-
Text of a TrayIcon. The error appears since an Upgrade to Ubuntu 9.04.
