I can confirm this bug on Ubuntu Karmic RC AMD64 edition.
In my apache2-error-log i can find the following information:
[client 127.0.0.1] ALERT - canary mismatch on efree() - heap overflow detected
(attacker 'IP-Adress', file 'File with PHP Code', line 524)
