OK I also got the error on Ubuntu 9.04 (64 bits), fresh installation.
The problem disappeared the minute I installed samba
$ sudo aptitude samba
Still, the error message from Ubuntu is not very helpful when people
have not installed the samba package yet and wish to share some
directory. Ubuntu

I got the same error today, on a 2-day old Ubuntu 9.04 install. However, my
home directory stems from a previous installation, in which I used to share
this folder.
How to reproduce (i think):
- share a folder (installs services)
- uninstall samba services
- go to the folder and open
OK what i said above is bullshit.
Also the removal of /var/lib/samba/usershares does not trigger the
error. Still i suspect that it has something to do with the previous
sharing of this folder in another ubuntu-installation.
Does Nautilus store redundant information about sharing in any way?
