To use scim-qtimm, you'd do: im-switch -s scim-pinyin, otherwise,
scim-qtimm will not be loaded when you try to use scim.
Okay.

The system wide default is pointed by /etc/alternatives/xinput-zh_CN .

Current `best' version is scim-pinyin.

Yes, while you have scim-qtimm installed you can have 1 konsole/yakuake session

If you want more than one session you have to uninstall scim-qtimm and restart
konsole.
I confirm this is still a problem on kubuntu edgy !

Have you customized your system in any way? If you have, it could be very
usefull to know what when trying to resolve this bug. Did it work out-of-the-
box?
I have two computers, one running dapper, the other one running edgy. Both
suffer from this problem when scim-qt is
as the result you provided above, scim-qtimm even not be used, so how
can it interfere your konsole? :)

Where does this bug stand now that dapper has been released and there is
a beta of edgy? is it still an issue?

dapper f5: konsole
ok,
This also works for me. But it cant possibly be accepted as a solution. Maybe
now we know where the problem lies, but we can't accept to uninstall the
scim-qtimm and kubuntu-desktop packages.
Maybe now somebody will be able to figure it out.

Don't ask me why but I had this bug too. I just deinstalled all scim
stuff and it worked again. Seems to be kind of dark magic.

None that I know of, but I find quite disturbing that a function like
that just stops working. Makes me worry about what else might be broken.
Especially because nobody seems to know what is wrong..
