You're using a non-GEM enabled kernel. You need to use the Jaunty
2.6.28 kernel or newer in order to use UXA, because other kernels don't
have GEM, which UXA requires.

Current Operating System: Linux mindvirus-laptop 2.6.27-8-eeepc-lean
Kernel 2.6.27 does not have GEM. Therefore UXA cannot work.
If you want to test UXA, you will need to use at least a 2.6.28 kernel.

Haha, I didn't explain myself explicitly enough.
Without UXA, graphics are great. This happened with Intrepid and this
new graphics driver from the PPA.
With UXA, the system crashes as soon as GDM is supposed to come up. This
happened only in Jaunty (as the problem -- extremely slow graphics --

I'm curious though, the original description of the issue indicated the
system failed very quickly. How are you able to determine that with the
newer driver that "graphics are MUCH faster"?

For Karmic we're making UXA bugs like these a top priority, so I would
like to forward this one upstream. First though, we need to verify the
issue still exists with the latest upstream release. Would you please
install and test the 2.7.0 driver and reproduce the bug, and let us know
ASAP? A PPA
