I can confirm this happens on Kubuntu Koala 9.10 x64. I also switched
mappings to the following:
setxkbmap -model logidinovo -layout us -variant
and
setxkbmap -model logidinovoedge -layout us -variant
And neither setting worked after an X restart.
I also noticed that Fn+F9 is mapped to a
