Well, that seems to remove any suggestion that this problem is HP-
related or driver-related. The Lexmark X560n looks to be a Postscript
printer:

Why in the world is this bug rated as "Low importance"? When a user is
trying to print a document quickly and run out the door to an

Just a quick idea: Wouldn't it be easiest to just completely disable the
code that checks for the "Too many failed attempts" condition? The
condition is being erroneously detected, and it can't do damage if it
tries to print no matter what.

Error occurs on all gtk applications. The printer is connected to a
machine with Windows, and Share on the samba.

I get this error when printing at "Draft Quality" on my HP F2110.
Printing at "Normal Quality" does not produce this error however.

Well, that seems to remove any suggestion that this problem is HP-
related or driver-related. The Lexmark X560n looks to be a Postscript
printer:

Not HP and no need for conversion from Postscript to some other wacky
format...
Why in the world is this bug rated as "Low importance"? When a user is
trying to print a document quickly and run out the door to an
appointment, this bug is the most infuriating thing possible. I know
someone who is thinking about switching back to Windows from Ubuntu,
principally due to this id
what an useful comment basically because it doesn't happen to everybody,
doesn't destroy datas or is a security issue and because changing the
setting will not change the speed at which one the bug is worked?

Just a quick idea: Wouldn't it be easiest to just completely disable the
code that checks for the "Too many failed attempts" condition? The
condition is being erroneously detected, and it can't do damage if it
tries to print no matter what.
