At times the pointer goes transparent or translucent or goes into pieces
through ~4 cm (1-1/2) of the display below it.

The pointer in 9.04 has a flickering line pattern next to it, and
sometimes over it. It shows on caret, finger and arrow pointers-- it
isn't there always, but enough to be annoying. It may have something to
do with being near the cen
