Using Karmic Netbook A6 on Latitude E6400. It works now and reconnects
fine with 5ghz network.

That could be caused by the old network configuration not working with
the newer knetworkmanager, and should be solvable by removing the
connection and re-adding it.
If this still turns out to be a problem, please attach a syslog of the
connection attempt as well.

I am experiencing the same thing. I would test but the latest update has
made it impossible to connect to *any* wireless network of any flavor
automatically or manually (bug #416041). So, once that is rectified, I
would love to help with this :)

Im made some logs in different situations.
The first is to connect the very first time. deleted all networkconnections in
the Network manager widget and in kdewallet.
--> Connection was successful
The second try was after standby.
--> Connection unsuccessfull.
The widget symbol has rotated.

I can confirm this bug. Using Dell Latitude E6400 with 5300AGN.
But there is a second Problem, which maybe can help us to understand, why
"automatically connect" does not work.
If i configure a new 5ghz connection, the networkmanager connects fast&fine. If
i reboot and try to use this connection
