If you have networking up, you can run "apport-collect 361596" or
"ubuntu-bug xserver-xorg-video-ati" from the command line and it will
run a text-based web browser.
Or, copy the file to a USB drive or your home directory, then boot for
instance with the live CD and post it.

i have 2 but was only using 1 for the test. ill try and close out of x
and see if i can get the Xorg log for you through the command line. i
dont know how to post it in a bug report from the CL, is it ok if i just
type it down from another computer?

Do you have two graphics cards? I think that is not supported very well.

i took out one of my 4890 card, cause i was running crossfire on vista
at the time, because the last test was giving me the same error. and
replaced the computer with a new HD so not to touch anything on the
original HD. i put in the live cd and installed it right away, (i have

If you run the latest Karmic live CD you already have a pretty recent
driver version. We would need to see the log to see what goes wrong.
Anyway, to install a newer version on the command line (assuming the network is
up):

how would i be able to download and update the driver version from the
command line?

ok so i downloaded the live cd and popped it into the computer, ubuntu
boots up like regular, asking language and all that. i select to run
from live cd and it fails to the GUI and goes strait to a command
interface. giving me the same error/bug as this ticket.
ive tried to open the Xorg.0.log fil
ya i can run that test. give until the 14th of September and ill report
back. ill hopefully will do it sooner then that but this week is real
busy with school just starting.
will it matter if i have 2 ati cards running crossfire or should i take
1 out just for the mean time?
