I could not reproduce the bug since re-installing Jaunty. I would
imagine it was just a fluke with my system.

The daemon was already running, and killing and restarting it didn't
seem to have any effect. Additionally, when I disable Compiz, the
window borders are correctly applied, though they are missing the
min/max/close buttons. As I haven't been able to dig up anyone else
experiencing this issue, I m
Looks like you don't have gnome-settings-daemon running. Could you open
a terminal and run "gnome-settings-daemon" and see if the issue goes
away?
