There is still the annoying PC beep at shut down, I stopped it with this
sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf, then placed this – blacklist
pcspkrat – at the bottom and saved and rebooted. Beep gone.
Did some checking and found it seemed to stem from Fast Us
This isn't a fast-user-switch-applet bug. It doesn't do anything that
makes the system beep, and nothing that changed between those versions
would cause this anyway. All the FUSA does when you ask it to shut down
is send a message to gnome-session to tell it to shut down.
That said, I don't know w
FWIW, I get multiple beeps on shutdown, and it seems to correspond to
the multiple broadcast messages that appear on one of the consoles when
the machine shuts down.
